Charles G. Urbanovit

Charles G. Urbanovit, 86, of Murphysboro, formerly of Dowell, passed away at 10:11 P.M., Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, IL.
Charles was retired from Freeman Coal Company #6 working as maintenance.  He was of the Protestant faith.  He was a Lifemember of Du Quoin VFW and member of UMW of A.  He was a great gardener and loved fishing.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran of W. W. II serving on the USS California.
He was born March 14, 1918 at Granite City, IL, the son of Mike and Pauline (Botykos) Urbanovit.
He married Glena I. Halstead on April 13, 1947 at Murphysboro, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Murphysboro, two daughters - Patricia Hopkins and husband Floyd of Murphysboro and Helen Durkota and husband Don of Du Quoin, one twin sister - Katherine Prugh of California, sister - Barbara Clark of California, four grandchildren - Tamrra Hopkins Williams and husband John of Murphysboro, Durice Hopkins Runge and husband Rick of Murphysboro, David Durkota and wife Gail of Du Quoin and Debra Urbanovit Durkota and special friend David Pick of Du Quoin, four great grandchildren - Jeremy Hopkins Williams, Travis Hopkins Williams, Ashley Hopkins Runge and Madison Hopkins Runge, step great grandson - Brian Williams and wife Heather and daughter Alexus of Sparta, four step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 19, 2004 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Friends called from 5 to 7 P.M., Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Pleasant Grove Memorial Park at Murphysboro.
